HISTORY OF THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, HERITAGE AND HIGHER EDUCATION

 

The first Ministry of Education was established in the year 1960 by the government of Abd Rashid Ali Sharmake, which was only the Ministry of Education at that time.

After 10 years with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Genetics and Higher Education was created for the first time by the revolutionary government, and the Minister was named Mr. Sharif Salah Mohamed. The civil war caused the Ministries to be unable to do their jobs and they became part of it, but in their place they stood up for the Somali community and built schools and universities in their hands.

At the National Peace Conference that established the Transitional National Government (TNG) that took place in Djibouti in 2000, it was possible to establish a government there, and then the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education became part of the appointed ministries. , which has resumed operations.

The two Ministries of Education and Genetics and Higher Education were made into one Ministry for the first time in the government of Prime Minister Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo in 2010, with the appointment of Abdinor Sheikh Mohamed as Minister. Maryan Qasim was appointed Minister of Social Services, while the Ministry of Education was a Department of that Ministry.
